Kates family background encouraged her to find and study what interested her while in college without focusing on her career at that stage. Kate was drawn to philosophy, because of the critical thinking and logic behind the ideas and assumptions. She enjoyed her studies, and as she moved on through her work at school and began summer internships with nonprofit organizations, she was always intrigued by the fundraising side of the organization. She wanted to know what kept a company going how it operated, what the budgets looked like, where the funds would come from. Kate began to discover another side of her that piqued her interest in financial services; which, consequently, became the focus of her job search as she finished up school.

I figured if the expectations were high, then I would be working for people that would push me and continuously raise the bar for my performance.
