If you expect to receive a refund from the IRS, you can ask the IRS to directly deposit your tax refund into one of your mutual fund accounts. Due to special tax considerations this service is for Non-Retirement accounts only. To use this service, you must complete lines 68b, c and d of your Form 1040.

  • On line 68b, enter the routing number for State Street Bank, the custodian bank for Prudential & Strategic Partner funds. The routing number is 011000028.
  • On line 68c, the Form 1040 lists only two options, Checking or Savings. To have the money invested into ANY one of your non-retirement mutual funds, mark the box for "Checking."
  • On line 68d, you will need to use the Prudential Mutual Fund prefix PR70 followed by the last three digits of your fund number and the last 10 digits of your account number, for a total of 17 digits. Please refer to your mutual fund statement for correct fund and account information.

Example for line 68d:
Fund number: 0095 (last three digits)
Account number: 01234567890 (last ten digits)

Using this example, you would need to enter the following on line 68d: PR700951234567890

Please double-check your tax return to make sure you have completed all required information. It is your responsibility to complete the direct deposit information correctly on your tax return. Prudential mutual funds will not be liable if the IRS does not deposit your refund in accordance with your wishes.

If there is a discrepancy, the IRS will not make the deposit. Instead, it will mail a check to the address shown on the front of your 1040 Form.

If you have any questions about the status of your tax refund, please contact the IRS directly.
