Withdrawals
Withdrawals are subject to a surrender charge in the first eight years. In each contract year, you can withdraw earnings plus up to 10% of your total contract value (calculated as of the date of the first withdrawal made that contract year) without paying a withdrawal charge. This amount is referred to as the "charge-free amount". Withdrawals made during the accumulation phase are treated first as a taxable distribution of gain. Withdrawals made prior to 59½ may be subject to a 10% federal income tax penalty. Under the VIP-83 contract, the 10% "charge-free amount" is calculated based on the contract fund only.

Annual Reporting
You receive a consolidated personalized statement annually with performance information for each investment in your VIP account.
